Remembering Jacob Wetterling 34-years later

On October 22nd, 1989 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling was riding his bike home with his brother and best friend when they were stopped by a man holding a gun. That man was later identified as Danny Heinrich.

Reports say that Heinrich let two of the boys go, but he left with Jacob in the back of his car. Wetterling was in his hometown of St. Joseph at the time of the kidnapping.

The disappearance is remembered by many Minnesotans, changing the everyday lives of many.

On Tuesday, October 24th Patty Wetterling, Jacob’s mother will be at the Bookstore at Fitgers hosting a discussion at 6 p.m. about the case and talking about her book Dear Jacob: A Mother’s Journey of Hope.

Patty Wetterling went on to be known as the face of the family’s tragedy and became an advocate for missing children during Jacob’s disappearance.

The book is co-written by Joy Baker, who is a cold-case blogger who helped to gain interest in Jacob’s disappearance. Patty has credited Baker in helping solve the case.
