Brandon Weatherz: Tracking an unsettled weather pattern

The week ahead will be rather unsettled with multiple rounds of precipitation in the Northland, and eventually, cooler air will allow for a variety of precipitation types in the region. Our Monday kicks off with a round scattered showers, but we dry out by late morning and that’s how we stay in the afternoon with clouds breaking up a bit. A cold front moving in from the west brings a return of showers tonight into tomorrow morning. Daytime rain chances stay north along in the international border and south of the Twin Ports for east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Siren, Hayward, and Butternut are on the northern edge of potential for thunderstorms that may produce 1″ hail Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Rain chances generally move east with the front Tuesday night into Wednesday with only low chances lingering. The larger weather system we’re tracking would bring rain to the Northland Wednesday night that lingers Thursday and tapers off Friday morning. Snow may enter the mix for northern communities Thursday night into Friday, but accumulation potential is minimal for these areas right now. Temperatures really take a nosedive behind that system with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s for the weekend. With that in mind, snow showers are possible Saturday into Sunday.
