Total reconstruction of West Superior Street now in the design phase
Developers are in the design phase for a total reconstruction of West Superior Street between Carlton and West Michigan Streets.
The reconstruction that runs through all of Lincoln Park would take three years. They hope to start construction on 2026 and it would run through 2028. Construction would be conducted in three stages as well.
Right now they are in the Design phase which means they are still conducting surveys with the public and refining their design plan. Meanwhile keeping tabs with all the businesses in Lincoln park about their plan.
Executive Director of the Children’s Museum, Drew Jensen, has dealt with near by construction before. The museum has been right next to the Twin Ports Interchange project for some time now, but they are not opposed to this reconstruction.
Jensen is excited for the pedestrian focused project saying, “We see a lot of people who are taking the bus to our facility or are walking from the neighborhood. So having some more accessibility, in terms of walkability, would be great for our facility as well.”
As for as conflicting with the TPI project, the reconstruction design team says they’ll be able to start when that construction is finished. However they are keeping a watchful eye on the TPI delay. West Superior Street reconstruction still have a couple reviews to go through before they get the greenlight to start. But they believe they’ll get full clearance come 2024.
