On Wednesday second seeded Esko volleyball downed top-seeded Mesabi East 3-1 at Hermantown in the Section 7AA semifinals.

Esko defeated Mesabi East in set one 25-10, dropped set two 26-24, then took sets three and four 25-17 and 26-24.

Esko (21-4) advances to face Rush City (27-2) in the Section 7AA championship game Saturday. First serve is 6 p.m. at Hermantown High School.

Also on Wednesday the Section 7A volleyball championship was decided.

Floodwood defeated North Woods 3-2 (10-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-12), and Ely defeated South Ridge 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11) in the 7A semifinals. Ely and Floodwood will battle in the 7A title game Saturday at 6 p.m. at Rock Ridge High School.
