CSS’ Salmela, UWS’ Drexler named conference coaches of the year
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced their annual cross country awards Thursday, and the College of St. Scholastica’s Chad Salmela was named Men’s Coach of the Year.
Last weekend he led the Saints to a program best third place finish in the MIAC championships.
Additionally, first year Regan DeWitt was named the MIAC’s Rookie of the Year. She becomes the first CSS woman to earn that accolade after placing 17th in the championship meet.
Five total Saints earned all conference honors.
Meanwhile, the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) saw 12 runners land on the All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) teams.
Cora Hudella secured the individual championship winning the program’s first title since joining the UMAC in 2015. Also, UWS’ Glen Drexler was named UMAC Coach of the Year.
