Brandon Weatherz: Windy Thursday with scattered snow showers
A low pressure system passing to our north is responsible for scattered snow showers, gusty west winds, and cooler air moving into the region today. Temps start off mild in low to mid-30s, then highs stay in mid-30s to low 40s. A west wind is sustained around 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Scattered snow and wintry mix showers fill out the Northland from the north through the morning and continue into the evening.
Temps above freezing will prevent snow from sticking for the most part, but visibility may be poor at times, especially in northeast Minnesota. Snow chances move to the South Shore tonight and linger east of the Bayfield Peninsula on Friday. A localized 1-3” is possible in northern Iron County and Gogebic County. After that, the only other chance for precipitation on the horizon is a low chance for a little rain/snow Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
Tonight features lows in mid-20s to low 30s, then we stay cool and cloudy on Friday with highs in low to mid-30s. Saturday morning begins with temps in low to mid-20s, then we rise to mid-30s to low 40s looking from north to south. Sunday sees highs into low 40s to low 50s, then a warm and dry stretch takes us well into next week.
