UWS men’s, women’s soccer falls in round 1 of NCAA tournament
After successful regular seasons and UMAC championships, the UWS Yellowjackets struggled in the big dance.
The big dance can make or break some teams, and unfortunately for UWS, the Yellowjackets were broken by the NCAA tournament, as the men’s team lost to St. Olaf 7-1 and the women lost a heart breaker to UW-La Crosse, 1-0.
For the men, they were outmatched from the start, as they allowed two early goals to find themselves in a 2-0 deficit.
After Josh Bellamy’s goal to cut the deficit to 2-1, St. Olaf went on to score five straight, which was a complete momentum killer for UWS.
The women’s game saw only one goal, coming in the first half.
For the women’s team, they didn’t register a single shot all game, and then men were outshot 25-8 in their match as well.
