Today marks the end of our unseasonably warm stretch. Our Thursday features well above average temps and strong winds, shifting from southwest to northwest in the afternoon and evening as a cold front crosses the region and takes a hit to our temperatures. Winds ahead of the front will be the strongest in northwest Wisconsin with a Wind Advisory in effect for Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, Price, and Gogebic Co. from 10 am to 6 pm today for southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts near 45 mph. The North Shore will then have the strongest northwest winds behind the front, leading to a Wind Advisory here from 6 pm to midnight.

Keeping in mind Duluth’s normal low of 22 and normal high of 37 for November 16, temperatures are well above average today. Most areas start off in the 40s, then highs range from low 60s for much of northwest Wisconsin to mid-40s by International Falls where the cold front reaches first. Precipitation is very minimal with this system. Wintry mix showers are possible along the Canadian border, then light rain is possible looking east to Ashland, Iron, and Gogebic Co. this evening.

Temperatures quickly fall into low to mid-20s tonight, leading to the need for the winter coat, hat, and gloves Friday morning. Highs stay in mid-30s to low 40s on Friday with partly cloudy skies. We’ll enjoy more sunshine and dry weather over the weekend with highs in the 40s both days. The next widespread chance for rain and snow would arrive Monday night into Tuesday. Cold air looks to settle into the region going into Thanksgiving.
