Our Monday begins frosty with patches of ice to be mindful of for the morning commute. Temps start off in 20s and 30s, then top off in low to mid-40s today. We only have one round of precipitation to track in the Northland this week, and it will be a rather minimal one. Fortunately, travel isn’t expected to be an issue around Thanksgiving. Our only contender will be cooler temperatures with highs staying in the 20s on Thursday and Friday.

Scattered rain showers will build across north central Minnesota this evening ahead of a passing cold front. Rain then reaches east toward the Twin Ports by around midnight. Rain will mix with and turn to snow, mostly north of Duluth across the Arrowhead. Even here, accumulation will be very light staying under a half inch of snow. A few snow and rain showers may linger early Tuesday morning, then the cold front exits to the east. As breezy northwest winds bring in cooler air, we’ll look along the South Shore where lake effect rain and snow showers may persist into the afternoon.

Temperatures take a slight hit behind the cold front on Tuesday with highs ranging from low 30s to near 40. We’ll cool down into teens and low 20s Tuesday night. Wednesday features a brief boost to temps with highs in upper 30s to mid-40s, then another cold front passes. This front looks to stay dry, but it introduces the cold air that will be with us for the holiday weekend.
