Brandon Weatherz: Quiet and comfortable into December
This last day of November starts off comfortably with temps in low 20s to low 30s. A passing cold front does trigger cooler air today carried in on a breezy northwest wind, but highs still manage low to mid 30s. Skies feature times of sunshine and an area of clouds moving in from the north. We look north of the Iron Range near the international border for flurries, and any accumulation here should be limited to a dusting.
Tonight will feature a greater chance to see northern lights than we ended up having last night. As of this morning, a Kp-index as high as 7 is expected with the southern extent of the view line reaching south of Chicago. Cloud cover should cooperate rather nicely with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. It’ll be cooler than the last couple of nights with temps falling into low to mid-teens across the Northland.
Friday features highs similar to today in low to mid-30s under a mix of clouds and sun. Cloud cover thickens on Saturday with highs generally near freezing. Sunday brings more stubborn clouds and a chance for flurries. Highs will consistently be near to above freezing across the board Sunday through much of next week. The only chance for snow is currently a slight one with a fast moving system Monday night into Tuesday.
