UMD men’s hockey overcomes early deficit, ties with Miami Ohio
Just a over a minute after the puck dropped in Oxford, Ohio, the UMD men’s hockey team found themselves in a two goal deficit.
They would eventually overcome that deficit to tie with the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks 3-3 on Friday night.
It took until the second period for the Bulldogs to finally get on the board, as Ben Steeves tapped in an Owen Gallatin shot.
Moments later, the Bulldogs were on the power play, and it was Steeves again who capitalized off the opportunity to tie the game at 2-2.
Four minutes into the third period, Cole Spicer fired a shot on net and gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the night.
UMD would surrender the equalizer just a minute later though, and the two teams would head to overtime, where neither team scored. UMD won the shootout.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday against the Red Hawks at 6 p.m.
