Our attention has turned to a messy system that is expected to bring rain and snow to the region Friday through Saturday. Total precipitation amounts will vary as the rain turns into snow. The precipitation is expected to start as mostly rain on Friday in northeast Minnesota, then transition to a mix and possibly all snow at times Friday night into Saturday as it spreads into northwest Wisconsin.

Winds are expected to become northeasterly and may be breezy on Saturday as precipitation ends. Winds will switch to west to northwesterly and may be a bit breezy with gusts up to 20 to 25 mph on Sunday with dry weather. A bit of snow may be possible with a cold front Sunday night, followed by more dry weather next week. High temperatures are expected to be above average, hovering a few degrees above or below freezing.

FRIDAY
Mostly AM rain, turning to wintry mix, misty conditions. High near 37. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
SATURDAY
Rain and snow likely before noon, then a slight chance of drizzle and snow between noon and 3pm, then a slight chance of drizzle or freezing drizzle after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
