On Tuesday the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), home to the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team, announced changes to their playoff format.

Starting in 2026 they will move the tournament entirely to campus sites. The NCHC Frozen Faceoff will remain at the Xcel Energy Center for 2024 and 2025.

The tournament will also expand to three weeks with a best-of-three quarterfinal series, and a single elimination semifinal series. The highest remaining seed will host the title game.
