Denfeld boys hockey wins Heritage Hockey Classic quarterfinal
On Wednesday the Duluth Denfeld boys hockey team stayed perfect on home ice defeating Irondale 4-1 in the quarterfinals of their Heritage Hockey Classic held at Duluth’s Heritage Sports Center.
The Hunters scored three goals in the first period from Tristen Nephew, John Scott, and Braeden Erickson. Scott scored again in the second period to lead 4-0. Irondale’s Grady Springborn made it 4-1 on a power-play with under a minute left in the game.
Denfeld (6-3-1) advances to face Park of Cottage Grove in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (6-3) is in the other semifinal Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Anoka. The Lumberjacks defeated Apple Valley/Burnsville 5-2 Wednesday morning to advance.
