Prep Boys Hockey: Denfeld wins & North Shore falls in holiday classics, Hermantown extends win streak
In prep boys hockey action on Thursday Duluth Denfeld and Hermantown would pick up home wins, while North Shore fell in Proctor.
Denfeld defeated Park of Cottage Grove 3-2 in the Heritage Hockey Classic semifinals to advance to the championship game. They will face-off against Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, who beat Anoka 6-1, Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Duluth’s Heritage Sports Center.
North Shore fell one step short of the Bill McGann Holiday Classic consolation championship falling to Hopkins 2-1 at the St. Luke’s Sports & Event Center. Kade Norman scored the Storm’s sole goal. Proctor beat Southwest Christian/Richfield 3-2 to advance to the title game Friday. They’ll host Northern Lakes at 7 p.m.
Hermantown earned their second straight win on home ice defeating East Grand Forks 5-1 behind two River Freeman and two Joshua Kauppinen goals. Bradford Skytta also added a goal and an assist. The Hawks improve to 6-1-2 and visit Shakopee Friday at 3 p.m.
