#23 UMD men’s basketball beats UMary while UMD women’s falls in first games of 2024
After nearly three weeks off, both the #23 UMD men’s and women’s basketball teams returned to the hardwood to face the University of Mary.
The men’s team succeeded, defeating Mary 82-60, while the women’s team fell, 77-66.
On the men’s side, the Bulldogs put up a high scoring first half, with 42 points to Mary’s 29.
UMD also boasted a 52% field goal percentage, with four scorers in double digits, including Drew Blair who led the way with 18.
On the women’s side, their nine point lead in the first quarter slowly disappeared, as they were outscored in each quarter.
UMD shot just over 37% from the field, however, Taya Hakamaki and Lexi Karge had big games, scoring 20 points and 19 respectively.
Both Bulldog squads are back on the court Saturday against Minot State.
