Brandon Weatherz: Cool and breezy with sporadic showers

The unsettled weather pattern that has brought occasional showers over the last several days will be with us once more today before drier conditions arrive. Showers first pop up in far northern Minnesota after about 10 am. Hit and miss rain will fill out the Northland through the afternoon and thin out through the evening. Showers shouldn’t stay in one place long enough to provide much in the form of rain accumulation, but communities that end up in the path of multiple showers through the day could pick up a couple tenths of an inch.

Our Thursday is otherwise breezy and cool with highs ranging from mid-60s to low 70s. Don’t be fooled by the chill in the air, summer will make a comeback soon. Mid-70s fill out the region on Friday under partly cloudy skies. Southwest winds usher in a warm and sunny Saturday with highs in the 80s.

High pressure will be responsible for a dry stretch through Friday and Saturday, then rain chances return Sunday. A few showers are possible in the morning, but the better chance for showers and thunderstorms arrive from the west in the evening and become more widespread overnight. Temps will be a touch cooler behind this front on Monday, but above normal temperatures will build across the region by the middle of next week.
