Prep basketball: Hermantown’s Soumis has career night, Duluth Marshall holds off Barnum
In an eventful night of boy’s basketball, Hermantown, led by Abe Soumis’ 55 point performance, beat Bemidji 88-81, while Duluth Marshall held off Barnum 71-60.
For Hermantown, the story of the night was senior Abe Soumis, who on Monday was named to the watch list for Mr. Basketball Minnesota, scored 55 points.
It’s the third time this season that Soumis has broken the Hermantown boy’s single game scoring record.
The Hawks now have a week off and will face Duluth Denfeld next Tuesday.
Duluth Marshall and Barnum were locked into a tight game, until the Hilltoppers stepped on the gas in the second half and pulled away to win easily.
Barnum will look to rebound against McGregor on Friday while Duluth Marshall takes on Rock Ridge on Thursday.
