Mike Randolph's St. Thomas Academy shuts out Hermantown
Mike Randolph served as head coach of Duluth East boys hockey for 32 seasons, and was a part of the Northland hockey community for many more. He departed to take over the St. Thomas Academy (STA) program but returned Friday night to take on the Hermantown Hawks.
Randolph’s Cadets would shut out Hermantown 3-0, despite the Hawks outshooting them 33-30. The first period ended scoreless, then STA scored twice in the second. They added their third and final goal in the third period. Hermantown goaltender Dane Callaway recorded 27 saves.
Hermantown now sits 12-5-2 overall. They stay home to host Maple Grove on Saturday at 2 p.m.
