UMD men’s basketball upsets No. 2 MSU-Mankato, women fall to Mavericks
Tuesday night the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s basketball team pulled off an 85-70 upset victory over No. 2 Minnesota State University-Mankato. However, earlier at Romano Gym the UMD women’s basketball team fell 81-63 to No. 22 Minnesota State.
The Bulldog men were led by Charlie Katona and Austin Andrews who each posted 20 points. Drew Blair added 19 and Jack Middleton tallied 12. UMD has now won their last four games to improve to 16-5 overall. They’re back in action Friday visiting Augustana at 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldog women struggled to stop the Mavericks as six of their players scored double digits. Only two Bulldogs cracked that threshold with Madelyn Granica scoring 13 and Taya Hakamaki hitting 12. UMD now sits 12-7 overall and next visits Augustana Friday at 5:30 p.m.
