It goes with out saying, but just in case you need a reminder, please check lake conditions before heading out this weekend. We are getting many reports that there is water near the shorelines instead of ice. No ice is safe ice. Conditions won’t improve over the next week. Temperatures are expected to continue to climb and be some 15°-25° above average.

Many parts of the northland will likely climb into the mid to upper 40s this weekend and possible some 50s by the beginning of next week. All communities that may have some snowpack left may not have anything by the end of next week. Ski hills will even take a hit. Winds will begin to increase on Tuesday and could lead to more rapid snow melt. There is some precipitation in the forecast, but it appears to be rain and not snow.
