Nurses at Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic 1st Street have officially voted to unionize and be represented by the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA).
Nurses filed for election in December and cast their votes on Tuesday, February 6.
Results were counted Thursday, February 8 by the National Labor Relations Board.
“I’m feeling energized from the positive connection and camaraderie with my coworkers,” said Jackie Thorn, Infusion RN at Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic 1st Street. “Now that we are unified, I know that our goals of fairness, pay equity and retention can be achieved!”
Nurses at Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic 2nd street have also filed for union representation.
Essentia Health provided WDIO the following statement:
We sincerely thank Duluth Clinic 1st Street Building nurses who participated in the election process. While we are disappointed with the results and believe maintaining a direct relationship is the best choice for our colleagues, we respect their decision and will bargain in good faith. We will move forward together, maintaining our focus on the patients we are privileged to serve and the excellent care we provide.
