Superior High School welcomed their first Tri-M Music Honor Society class on Thursday evening. A program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Tri-M is the only music society for junior/middle school and high school students in the United States. It recognizes students who have gone above and beyond both academically and musically. In total, six Superior students were installed as the Officers of Tri-M Chapter 9539 during its first ever ceremony.

“The students look forward to using the skills and talent they have learned to bring joy to our community,” said Amy Eichers, SHS Orchestra Director. “Their goal is to raise awareness and the visibility of our music programs in the schools by volunteering their time and providing music for our local senior centers and events in the community.”

The School District of Superior recently received a grant from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) to charter a new chapter of Tri-M. Superior was one of ten schools that received the grant. According to the district, celebrating the arts and creativity is just one of the many aspects the School District of Superior embraces on a daily basis. Along with social and emotional learning, the district believes developing the whole student is crucial to their growth.
