Brandon Weatherz: Mild start to the week
Our Monday starts off mild with temps in mid-20s to low 30s. A few snow showers fell overnight in northwest Wisconsin and near the international border. Additional flurries and light snow showers are possible today and tonight across the Arrowhead and along Lake Superior’s South Shore. Amounts around 1″ are possible locally for South Shore communities. This is the first of a couple of rounds of light snow that we’ll see in the region this week with each round remaining rather minimal.
Tonight is mostly cloudy with lows ranging from teens north to mid-20s in northwest Wisconsin. Tuesday features high pressure to our north, a gentle east wind, and more clouds than sun. Another weak system arrives from the west Tuesday night into Wednesday morning bringing flurries and light snow showers with under an inch of snow expected.
Valentine’s Day is a touch milder with highs ranging from upper 20s by International Falls to 35 in Duluth and near 40 in Hayward. Yet another system drops through Wednesday night into Thursday, but most of the snow from that round currently looks to stay south of the Northland. Temps still take a hit to end the week with highs staying in teens to low 20s on Friday. The weekend will feature recovering temps and dry weather.
