Duluth East girls win State Nordic crown, boys finish second
The Duluth East girls Nordic ski team took first place in the 2024 State Nordic ski meet on Thursday, while the Duluth East boys took second place.
Thursday was the final day of the two day state Nordic meet at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, featuring the Team Sprints.

Duluth East’s Anna-Britta Helmer and Greta Hendrickson took first place winning with a time of 13:43.60. They beat second place St. Paul Academy and Summit who finished with a time of 14:04.95.
In the boy’s event, Duluth East’s Mark Goettel and Ben Pilate took second, behind Brainerd (11:55.94), with a time of 12:06.89. Finishing fourth, just nine seconds behind the Greyhounds, were Ely’s Aksel Skustad and Silas Solum with a time of 12:15.03.

Overall as teams, the Duluth East girls finished first to take home gold, and the Greyhound boys took second for the silver medal.
