Prep Hoops: Duluth East boys down Denfeld in double OT, Proctor & Esko girls earn home wins
In prep basketball action on Thursday, the Duluth East boys defeated Duluth Denfeld in double overtime, and the Esko and Proctor girls earned home wins.
The Proctor girls basketball team defeated Chisholm 78-28 to earn their fifth straight win and improve to 19-5. The Rails next Pequot Lakes Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Chisholm (17-7) next visits Rock Ridge Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
The Esko girls basketball team downed Hermantown 66-44. Esko’s Hannah Swanson led the game with 16 points, while Olivia Johnson led the Hawks with 14 points. Esko improves to 15-7 and next hosts Grand Rapids Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. Hermantown (6-18) next visits Duluth East Tuesday at 7 p.m. for their regular season road finale.
The Duluth East boys basketball team knocked off Duluth Denfeld in double overtime winning 70-64 at Duluth East. Bjorn Lind led the Greyhounds with 21 points, while the Hunters’ Ethan Starstead led the game with 23 points. East completes the season sweep over Denfeld, having beat them 60-59 January 18 at Denfeld. The Greyhounds (6-14) next host Mound Westonka Saturday at 4 p.m., while the Hunters (11-11) visit Rock Ridge Friday at 7:15 p.m.
