UMD’s Katona takes home NSIC Defensive Player of the Year
UMD’s Charlie Katona is taking home some hardware, as he’s won the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Katona becomes the first Bulldog since 2001 to win the award, back when Jack Nettleton did so.
Katona sits in second on the team for points with 363, second in rebounds with 135, and second in steals with 29.
In addition to the Defensive Player of the Year Award, he was named to the NSIC first team, along with drew blair, who became the leading scorer in UMD’s history earlier this season.
Blair, Katona and the rest of the Bulldogs will head to Sioux Falls to play Augustana on Saturday in the NSIC quarterfinals.
