Our week is off to a rather quiet start. There’s a weather system to our north that is responsible for breezy southwest winds, cooler air arriving from the northwest, and some precipitation in the region. Northwest Wisconsin is where light wintry mix and rain expands from the south in the morning and gradually exits to the east throughout the day.

Highs return to low 40s for the Twin Ports and south, then the thermometer falls looking northwest with 35 for Hibbing and 29 for International Falls. Tonight will be cooler with mostly clear skies and lows in teens to single digits. Tuesday stays dry with highs in 30s and 40s looking from north to south. We stay in mid-30s in the Twin Ports as a northeast wind develops.

A system will bring a round of snow and possibly wintry mix to the region Wednesday into Thursday. Precipitation will begin in northwest Minnesota on Wednesday and try to build east into north central Minnesota through the day and Wednesday night. A mix of snow and rain then gradually pushes eastward into Wisconsin on Thursday before we dry out.

Light snow accumulation is possible mostly near and north of the Iron Range as of this morning. We’ll monitor how that accumulation potential evolves. Quiet weather is expected for travel Friday through the weekend.
