Our Wednesday begins quiet with the only contender being frost on the windshield. Temps start off in teens and 20s. Morning sunshine will give way to cloudier skies heading through the day. A breezy east wind will pick up around 15 mph this afternoon and keep temps in mid-30s from the Twin Ports up the North Shore. Elsewhere, highs rise near 40 for the Iron Range and we’ll see mid-40s to near 50 abound in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

A round of wintry mix is still expected to arrive in parts of north central Minnesota this evening and taper off on Thursday, but potential for accumulation surpassing 1” has pushed west of International Falls. We could still see a dusting for much of northern Minnesota reaching into the Twin Ports. This minimal round of precipitation is still the only one on the horizon. Sawyer County and Price County may be brushed by wintry mix on Friday with the better chance staying south of the Northland. The dry weather will cooperate nicely with travel through the weekend, including those hitting the road for the MSHSL Boys Hockey Tournament.

For temperatures, we’ll see a spread on Thursday with upper 40s in much of northwest Wisconsin and cooler conditions looking northwest with low 40s in the Twin Ports, mid-30s on the Iron Range, and low 30s near International Falls. Friday is a touch cooler with low 30s to low 40s. Saturday features mid-30s to mid-40s, then a warming trend begins with widespread 50s returning by Monday.
