There is a new way to support local business in a one-stop shop.
A Pop-Up CoLab opened in downtown Duluth Tuesday. It currently houses eight small businessses that offer everything from cosmetics to clothing to cheesecake.
“It means a whole lot to me because where I come from, things like this isn’t really imaginable,” Jasmine Clark said.
Clark owns Auntie’s Stand, a cosmetics stop. She offers lip care, fake eyelashes, and more.
Many of the shops are owned by members of the BIPOC community, women, or veterans. Clark is Native American.
“I grew up on Red Lake Reservation. I also grew up in the foster care system,” she said. “Being a statistic, that was a really big thing for me. So being able to open up my own shop, little pop-up scene, you know, this thing, even to start my own business, I never really thought that I could have did this.”
She took an entrepreneur class at the Family Freedom Center, and that’s how she connected to the Pop-Up CoLab. The Duluth 1200 Fund and Greater Downtown Council also made it possible.
The stores are open from 10-4 Tuesday-Saturday. They’re located at 313 and 317 W Superior Street, and they will be there through November.
