Easter Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary held their Easter Mass celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus. Easter Sunday marks the end for the season of Lent within the Church calendar.
Rev. Seth Gogolin is the rector at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. He said Easter is the pinnacle of the Catholic faith.
“St. Paul says if Christ is not risen, our faith is in vain. So everything we celebrated during Lent, the passion and the death of Jesus, ultimately leads to this day. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead,” Rev. Gogolin said. “We had a Palm Sunday last Sunday, where we celebrated Jesus coming into Jerusalem, and ultimately his death on the cross.”
Rev. Gogolin said next Sunday also play an important role of the Easter Season, because it’s Divine Mercy Sunday.
“We celebrate what’s called an octave. So we’re actually celebrating an Easter Sunday, eight days in a row. We do that in the church,” Rev. Gogolin said. “On Divine Mercy Sunday, we have a special time of adoration and confessions here at the church in the afternoon. Culminating with the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.”
