Accumulation for the South Shore wraps up this morning. Light snow or wintry mix may linger locally through the day, melting on impact as temps rise above freezing. Winds aren’t as strong as yesterday, but a breezy north wind remains with the strongest gusts early this morning. Clouds are thickest in Wisconsin with decreasing clouds moving west across northern Minnesota. The Twin Ports will see mostly cloudy skies overall today with a high near 44. Highs approach 50 near Bigfork and Aitkin, then the thermometer falls looking east with a high near 36 in Ironwood.

Winds are light by tonight with partly to mostly cloudy skies with light snow still possible along the South Shore. Lows will be in 20s to low 30s. Skies become sunny on Friday with warmer weather starting to take over the Northland from the west. An east wind will keep temps in upper 30s to low 40s for the Twin Ports and along the shorelines of Lake Superior. These communities will continue to be cooler through the weekend while 50s become common inland. Saturday will be breezy and mostly sunny.

Sunday’s east wind picks up near 20 mph. Clouds increase again ahead of rain chances that build across east central Minnesota and reach up the Head of Lake Superior Sunday afternoon. Periods of rain showers will remain possible Sunday night, Monday, and into Tuesday. Showers remain rather light, but the three days together may help us keep fire concerns at bay a touch longer. What snowpack is out there will continue to erode through this period.
