Brandon Weatherz: Warm Earth Day with afternoon showers
Sunday’s warmth is still with us today, then temps take a hit tomorrow behind a cold front that will bring some precipitation to the region. Our Monday is mostly cloudy with a breezy southwest wind and highs reaching low to mid-60s. Cooler conditions will be directed along the North Shore of Cook County. Spotty showers pop up this afternoon and evening with the greatest chance for rain reaching from the Arrowhead into northwest Wisconsin.
Tonight is mild with low in mid-30s to low 40s. We look near the Canadian border for rain that will follow a cold front moving southward overnight and into Tuesday. Tuesday then has scattered showers with snow mixing in from the north through the day, but nothing will stick. Highs stay in mid-40s to mid-50s. The Monday to Tuesday precipitation will only bring around a tenth to a quarter of an inch for most of the Northland.
The middle of the week features sunshine and a warming trend. Inland areas will be in the 50s Wednesday and 60s Thursday, but an east wind will keep shoreline communities cooler both days. Our current best hope for needed moisture will be Friday into Saturday.
