17-year-old dies from vehicle crash
UPDATE: On Wednesday, May 22, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported that 17-year-old Emma Jean Malmquist has died from her injuries. She had been transported to Essentia Duluth.
The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and a referral to the County Attorney’s Office is expected in the coming weeks.
ORIGINAL: According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, first responders arrived to an accident in Canosia Township involving a side-by-side off road vehicle on May 6 at around 10 p.m. This accident was located at N. Pike Lake Road and Helm Road.
Four people were brought to Duluth hospitals with injuries. A 17 year old woman had life-threatening injuries while the three others had non-life-threatening injuries. The accident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. They believe that alcohol was an influence in the accident.
