Support Minnesota Warriors at a cornhole and hockey fundraiser next Saturday in Virginia
The Minnesota Warriors are growing, and are hoping you’ll help support their mission to reintegrate veterans into civilian life.
There is a ’24 Armed Forces Hockey and Cornhole Fundraiser coming up in Virginia on Saturday, May 18th.
The first part of the day is the cornhole tournament. It’s $30 per team. But it is free to attend.
Later are the hockey games including Minnesota Warriors and the Rock Ridge Amateur Coaching Association.
Mike Irish, an Air Force Veteran, is the president of Minnesota Warriors. “We have 400 members in the state, and about 120 in the north region. We are an ice hockey program, but many people didn’t even know how to play hockey.”
“We’re in the state of hockey, so it just made sense to use hockey as our weapon to combat the issues like homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges. It feels so good to hear the stories of people breaking addictions, because they an lean on people just like them,” he added.
If you’re a disabled veteran and you’re interested in joining the MN Warriors, or if you’re an organization or individual who’d like to sponsor or donate to their cause, reach out to mirish@mnwarriors.org.
Or visit them at MNwarriors.com or communicate with them on local Facebook pages Duluth Warriors Ice Hockey, MN Warriors – Iron Range, or Minnesota Warriors Hockey.
The fundraiser is Saturday, May 18th at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center. Registration for the cornhole tournament starts at 10am, with playing starting at 11am.
Free food and cash bar.
There will be raffles, games, and a bounce house for the kids.
Hockey games start at 4pm and 5:30pm.
