1 dead in Nashwauk after single vehicle accident

Saturday at around 10:00am, the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fatal hit and run accident on 2nd Street near Larue Court, in the town of Nashwauk.

Preliminary investigation showed that the accident was not the result of a hit and run incident, but instead the victim’s truck and camper trailer were unmanned as they began to roll from their parking spot. Subsequently, the truck and camper trailer struck the victim.

The victim is described as a 59-year-old female from Silver Springs, Florida.

The victim died on the scene after life saving measures were performed. Itasca County Sheriff’s Office deputies, as well as Minnesota State Patrol, Hibbing Fire Department, and the Nashwauk Ambulance, were the ones who arrived on scene.
