Blatnik Bridge reopens after vehicle crash damages utility wires

Saturday, the Duluth Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash that damaged utility wires on Garfield Avenue, which ended up temporarily closing the Blatnik bridge.

The bridge is now open to traffic. But Minnesota Power had to step in to stabilize the power lines that were damaged before it could reopen.

The driver that caused crash was transported to a local hospital. Once cleared authorities tell WDIO News that the driver will be lodged in County Jail for two counts of Criminal Vehicular Operation, Driving After Revocation, and Open Container.

Two other people were also injured with non life threatening injuries.
