The quiet stretch of weather that began yesterday will continue today and through the rest of the week. High pressure is responsible for abundant sunshine. A southwest wind will give temps a boost with highs reaching low to mid-80s. A weak cold front sweeps the region from north to south this evening and overnight, but this front isn’t expected to produce any precipitation. All it does is shift winds out of the northwest and allow cooler air to move into the region, making today the warmest day in the forecast. Wednesday will still be on the warm side with highs ranging from mid-70s by the international border to low 80s south of Lake Superior.
Another area of high pressure arrives from the northwest Wednesday and lingers in the upper Midwest through Friday, allowing the dry and sunny stretch to continue. An east wind will develop Thursday, keeping temps a touch cooler near Lake Superior. A stubborn east wind may continue to limit temps along the shorelines each day through the weekend. The next chance for rain is Friday night. A slightly unsettled weather pattern will then be with us into the start of next week, but rain chances are on the low end for weekend plans at this time.
