Emergency EMS funding passes the legislature, will help rural areas
EMS funding is going to be available to help rural providers, now that it passed the legislature.
Lawmakers are sending a lifeline to rural EMS providers, with $24 million dollars in emergency aid.
Providers will be able to apply for the funding soon, according to Senator Grant Hauschild.
There is also $6 million dollars for a sprint medic program that will begin on the Iron Range.
“This will help get Advanced Life Support services faster to rural areas,” he explained.
This passed with bipartisan support in the legislature before they adjourned this session.
Hauschild, along with Rep. Natalie Zeleznikar and Rep. Dave Lislegard, were part of the newly formed EMS task force this year.
Zeleznikar also secured money to help fund EMT training for Lake County high school students.
