Exploring the drinks and history at the Rathskeller
The Rathskeller is a Duluth speakeasy that transports you to a whole different time. The bar is located in the basement inside the old Duluth City Hall building.
One of the highlights of the Rathskeller is cocktails made with fresh ingredients, another is the atmosphere.
The City Hall was originally built in 1889, and the basement, where the Rathskeller now is, was used as a makeshift holding cell. It gives the bar an old-timey prohibition vibe.
Before the bar opened in 2012, the basement had only a dirt floor, but the building’s architecture sparked the vision for a speakeasy. For more information on the Rathskeller or their menu, click here.
