A weak cold front has swept the region overnight, causing an arrival of cooler air on a northwest wind. Highs range from mid-70s to low 80s looking north to south. Mostly sunny skies are with us yet again. It will be a pleasant night for an open window with temps falling to mid-40s to mid-50s under partly cloudy skies. An area of high pressure moves into the region from the north by Thursday, keeping our sunny stretch going and bringing a return of an east wind. This keeps temps a touch cooler near Lake Superior, while highs elsewhere stay mostly in the mid-70s. A southeast wind keeps the North Shore cooler Friday, then an east wind returns to limit temps along the shorelines each day through Tuesday.
The next chance for showers and thunderstorms builds across central Minnesota Thursday night into Friday. This round will try to graze a line from Grand Rapids to the Twin Ports Friday afternoon and evening, but the better chance for rain is south. Shower and thunderstorm chances become more widespread overnight into early Saturday morning. The weekend should be on the dry side overall with relatively seasonable temps.
