June 3: Break from rain

The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy with a chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon.

As rain continues moving eastward, most of the Northland will have dry weather starting by around 9 am. There is a chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm later this afternoon, but we otherwise take a break from rain until tomorrow afternoon.

A lake breeze will keep temperatures in the 60s by the lake. Areas along the Iron Range will reach the low 70s, and areas south of the Twin Ports will reach the upper 70s with a few spots warming to 80 degrees.

There is potential for dense fog tonight, lasting into Tuesday morning. Overnight lows will be in the 50s to low 60s.

Stormy weather returns Tuesday afternoon as the next round moves in from western Minnesota. There is a risk for severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon to early evening hours with damaging winds and large hail.

Monday

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight

Patchy dense fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east after midnight.

Tuesday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Areas of dense fog before 10am. High near 66. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday

A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
