Stop and smell the Lilac Lovefest
It’s been said that Twin Ports has one of the longest lilac seasons in the world- and Lilac Lovefest is dedicated to proving it.
Organizer Linda Nervick says people we calling to find out if we’d have a lilac season. Now she brings the good new, “There are plenty. I am here to tell you.”
Look for the lilac hot-spots around on the Lilac Lovefest website.
“Lilacs are not wild. They have to be planted. So if you see a vacant lot with lilacs there was once a house there,” Linda says.
Throughout the month of June, you can enjoy Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. Lilac Yoga in the Fitger’s Courtyard.
There will be plenty of lilacs on the GIn & Gin train. As of Monday, there is still some space on the North Shore Scenic Railroad Excursions.
You can even check out a Lilac Art Exhibit at Cloquet Encore Performing Arts. That runs from June 14 to August 18. The opening reception is from 5 – 7 p.m.
