St. Louis County swears in new Assistant Attorneys
St. Louis County has new new Assistant Attorneys, Kirstyn Oye and Jacqueline Primeao. The two were sworn in Thursday morning. Each will be prosecuting misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony caseloads.
“Certain cases are either assigned to the City Attorney’s offices, or County Attorney’s offices,” explained Primeao. “So we’ll prosecute those on behalf of the people of Minnesota.”
The two have strong professional backgrounds that prepared them for this appointed role.
Oye interned in the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office during her last semester of Law School. “After taking the bar, I worked under Judge {Rebekka} Stumme in Carlton County. I was her clerk for two years, spent some time at the Carlton County Attorney’s Office, and then I came up here to Duluth not that long ago.”
“I was at the Rice County Attorney’s Office for the past six months or so, doing adult criminal felony and gross misdemeanor,” shared Primeao. “And then before that, I was a judicial clerk in Sterns County for Judge Pearson.”
Oye said she and her husband love the Duluth-area, and knew they wanted to live here.
“The fact that I get to now serve the community that I love means a lot to me,” Oye shared.
“I’m excited to be in the area, set down roots here, and try and help the community,” shared Primeo, who is also excited to explore the North Shore.
