Duluth Huskies fall to Wausau Woodchucks

The Duluth Huskies couldn’t catch up to their first of two games Wasau Woodchucks Thursday night at Wade Stadium.

The Woodchucks would start off strong in the top of the first inning with four runs, with Jonah St. Antione shooting a double out into center field, bringing in two of his teammates to make the score 4-0.

Huskies would respond with two runs of their own starting with Reagan Reeder pounding a double to left field allowing him to advance to second and bring teammate MJ Sweeney home.

Up next Ethan Cole would take the chance to ring up runs with a single to shortstop. Cole would take first and allow Reeder to score.

Woodchucks would rack in two more points in the top of the fourth, bringing the score to 7-2.

The Huskies would attempt to close the gap in the bottom of innings five and six. Jake downing would sacrifice himself to allow Brady Sullivan to advance home in the fifth. Brady Sullivan would do the same in the sixth for Ethan Cole to score bringing the score to 7-4.

The Huskies would not be able to hold the Woodchucks and rally their bats, falling with a final score of 8-4.

The Huskies will look to turn the tables on Friday June 14 when they take on the Woodchucks again. The game will be held at Wade Stadium, play will begin at 6:35pm.
