A wet start for the workweek as scattered storms arrives Monday afternoon. The moderate to heavy rain will continue to migrate through the Northland until the early hours of Wednesday morning. The main risk for the Northland is the very heavy rainfall and potential for flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Scattered strong to severe storms will move through overnight bringing in a risk for damaging winds into Tuesday.

With continuous rainfall throughout June, most of the ground in the region is already saturated and the anticipated localized heavy rainfall poses a threat to central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for most of the Northland.  Many neighboring waterways will experience excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall, causing potential hazards of flooded roadways.

There will be a break from the rain on Wednesday, but scattered showers will continue as we look towards the weekend.
