Lea Zmurko: Sunshine shifts to storms tonight
We have a mild Monday morning as clouds move through the early hours of the morning and a mostly sunny day continues into the afternoon hours. Temperatures will be on the rise throughout the afternoon, reaching the mid to upper 70s along the shoreline and the low 80 further in-land of the region.
Conditions will shift tonight as some isolated storms will be passing bringing chances for heavy rain in the Iron Range as well as into northern Wisconsin. However, with the system moving by quickly the risks remain limited.
The thunderstorms tonight have the possibility to develop severe weather as well. The current risk is slight and includes chances for large hail, damaging wind, heavy rainfall and lightning strikes.
Currently, flood risks are still in place as elevated water levels remain in the Iron Range and throughout Northern Minnesota from previous heavy rainfall last week. There are still some more chances for precipitation as the week progresses, but no more severe weather is anticipated after tonight at this moment.
With more fair weather ahead, temperatures will trend higher, and we will see a stretch of mostly sunny days this work week.
