Hunter Shepard wins back-to-back AHL Calder Cups with Hershey Bears

On Monday night former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey captain, goaltender Hunter Shepard won back-to-back AHL Calder Cup championships with the Hershey Bears.

They would defeat the Coachella Valley Firebirds 5-4 in overtime of game six in their best-of-seven series. Shepard made 17 saves on 21 shots faced.

The 28-year-old Cohasset native, and Grand Rapids hockey alum, also has back-to-back NCAA DI Men’s Ice Hockey championships under his belt. He won the title in 2018 and 2019 with UMD.

This is the Hershey Bears’ 13th title in franchise history.
