Nurses at Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Superior Wisconsin Clinic file for union representation
Nurses at Superior’s Essentia Health St. Mary’s Clinic announced Friday, June 21, they’ve filed to vote for union representation with the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA).
The announcement comes after nurses several Duluth medical centers began organizing.
Dana Bukovich, a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Clinic says the move will “ensure that we have a seat at the table during discussions and decisions that will impact our careers and subsequently our patients.”
MNA representatives say union representation will allow nurses to negotiate employment terms, working conditions, and standards for patients.
The vote to join the MNA has been filed with the National Labor Relations Board, but a date has not yet been announced.
The MNA represents over 20,000 members throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Dakota.
