Firefighters extinguish fire at vacant apartment in Eveleth Monday night
A fire was reported at a vacant apartment building in Eveleth Monday (Northland FireWire).
At around 9:30 pm Monday, a vacant apartment house was reported on fire in the 500 block of Adams Avenue in Eveleth.
According to the Northland FireWire, crews from Eveleth, Fayal Township, Gilbert, Virginia, and Mountain Iron were dispatched to respond to the call. Additional pages were sent out to Clinton, Lakeland, Biwabik Township and the City of Biwabik.
The FireWire says heavy smoke was seen coming from the building.
The fire was contained to the interior of the building using extensive exterior fire attacks.
Eveleth Ambulance service also provided medical standby at the scene alongside Eveleth Police Department and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department controlling traffic in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
